2015 Global Inclusion – Celebrate You. Celebrate Us.

Celebration Overview

How boring would it be if there were only one style of music, one way to dance, or one paint color for an artist to express themselves on canvas? How short sighted would it be to say there was only one architectural wonder in the world? Fortunately, the world is filled with people from rich diverse cultures and experiences that constantly provide unique expressions of beauty to the global community. In architecture, there are countless examples of exceptional architecture. This year, the City of Atlanta, a southern city rich in culture and diversity, will host the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Convention in May. The Atlanta Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), NOMA national and the AIA Diversity and Inclusion invites you to celebrate our diversity through a unique social gathering that brings together architecture, culture and the arts; entitled “Global Inclusion: Celebrate You, Celebrate Us”. The event will celebrate the rich global diversity of design with presentations, special honors, cultural art exhibits, music and dance.

The Event

As one of the final acts of the week long 2015 AIA national convention that features keynote speaker Bill Clinton, this year’s Global Inclusion event “Celebrate You, Celebrate Us” will act as an introduction for some, a reengagement for others and a celebration for all. The event will host one of the largest contingents of architects and designers representing various multicultural professional organizations around the country that advocate and celebrate the design profession. These organizations will share a few words about their mission. There will also be a presentation from the AIA Diversity / NOMA partnership and special recognition of AIA Georgia and National multi-cultural Fellows.

The event kicks off on Saturday night May 16, 2015 with a cocktail reception giving the attendees the opportunity to mix and mingle in a relaxed music filled atmosphere with drinks and heavy hors d’oeuvres from Wolfgang Puck. The night will feature a myriad of performances from a variety of art forms by equally diverse artists and genres. The proposed backdrop for this unique event will be the new Center for Civil and Human Rights, whose mission is to celebrate civil and human rights achievements. The Center located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, sits on Pemberton Place nestled between the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca‐Cola museums serving as the perfect location.
