NOMAtlanta partnered with StoryCorps Atlanta to introduce a first-ever recount of the stories of Atlanta’s prominent minority AEC trailblazers in a special audiovisual experience at AIA Convention 2015 in Atlanta. A preview of the exhibit was displayed in the AIA Atlanta host chapter Expo Booth from Thursday, May 14 to Saturday, May 16. The full exhibit debuted at the Global Inclusion celebration on Saturday, May 16, at the Center for Civil and Human Rights. The exhibit is based on audio interviews where Atlanta AEC Trailblazers share personal stories of the impact of the Civil Rights Movement on their own lives and professional practice as well as valuable lessons learned for the next generation of Atlanta’s minority AEC professionals produced by NOMAtlanta. Additional sites around the Atlanta metro area and the country are planned. Throughout the coming year there will be programming highlighting the AEC trailblazers and the work they accomplished. All NOMAtlanta AEC Trailblazer stories can be experienced today at In Their Words – NOMAtlanta Exhibit Webpage.

This exhibit would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors.
