CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – 2023 NOMAtlanta EXECUTIVE BOARD & BOARD OF DIRECTORS

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who want to help us achieve our mission! You can nominate yourself or someone you know who has the time and interest in actively supporting NOMAtlanta.

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

We are seeking volunteers for the following positions:

TREASURER: The Treasurer serves on the Board of Directors and makes financial reports at each monthly meeting of the Executive Committee and general body meetings, causes independent audits of the books and financial records, and performs the entire duties incident to the office of the Treasurer. The Treasurer shall be the accounting officer of NOMAtlanta, keep full and accurate accounts of all financial transactions in books belonging to NOMAtlanta and pay funds as authorized.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE DIRECTOR: Lead the Membership Committee in NOMAtlanta membership initiatives, including receiving, reviewing, and approving all new applications for membership and devising ways and means for increasing the membership of NOMAtlanta.

PROJECT PIPELINE CO-DIRECTORS: Project Pipeline is NOMAtlanta’s Annual Summer Camp that empowers young people to affect change in their community through design. The Co-Directors will be responsible for organizing this program, including recruiting camp volunteers, soliciting sponsorships, camp program development, directing marketing and promotional efforts, and ensuring the multi-day camp is a success. DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION DIRECTOR: The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Director shall direct the chapter’s annual strategic action plan to collaborate with local firm leaders to improve our industry’s overall diversity and help promote opportunities for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color BIPOC in architecture firms to leadership roles for a minimum of one calendar year. The director will also aggregate local firm participation for how they understand the benchmark metrics for critical issues like Developing initiatives to incorporate office-wide training and cultural competency and interviews with leadership; Initiatives that champion and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion; Understanding mentorship programs and staff training; Supporting internships and student programs for BIPOC candidates, and Promoting interested staff to join the Atlanta Chapter of NOMA to support those programs with active membership.

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE DIRECTOR: Leads the Academic Affairs Committee in managing NOMAtlanta’s relationships with the National Organization of Minority Architect Students (NOMAS) chapters, including serving as an advisor to and assisting local NOMAS chapters and advising the Executive Committee on status of NOMAS chapters and recommend opportunities for engagement.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR: The Professional Development Director serves for a minimum of one calendar year and directs the Professional Development Committee to form partnerships with sponsors, product manufacturers, and representatives for Planning and recommending support of BIPOC professionals in design for diversity by funding at least one NOMAtlanta member’s NOMA Conference registration, Document the chapter’s association with allied organizations that support the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion of BIPOC professionals, and Plan with product manufacturers and representatives to host at least nine professional development and social programs during the year in coordination with the Community Affairs Director.

PARLIAMENTARIAN: The Parliamentarian shall maintain order, interpret the By-Laws and perform other normal duties of Parliamentarian according to the Robert Rules of Order at meetings; Develop and maintain a historical file system that serves as an ongoing record of the events, projects, and history of the organization; and validate and administer all amendments to the existing organization by-laws as directed by the Executive Committee and approved by the general membership.

AT-LARGE MEMBER: NOMAtlanta is always seeking ways to serve our members better. If you have a special interest or skill set that you feel can benefit our organization, we encourage you to volunteer to serve on our Executive Board.

Nominations are open thru 10/31. The Nominating Committee will review all nominees and determine the Slate of Candidates for the elections. Elections will take place 11/1/2022.
