NOMAtlanta 40th Anniversary Celebration

In the year 1974, the organization known as ‘The Design Collaborative’, tirelessly worked within the state of Georgia to advance their mission. Not just a mission that impacted the state of Georgia, but the country.  The collaborators of this organization were not new to the idea of advocacy, but committed much of their time and efforts to bettering the status quo. Before they were professionals working towards this mission, they were students aiming to find a place to design and be recognized. 10 years later, as the work of various like-minded individuals intersected, this local organization would join a national movement to nurture, inspire, celebrate and empower designers.

Forty years ago in 1984, the mission was heightened to unify various individuals and locations under an umbrella organization that served community, practicioner, and firm needs. As we continue on this bold mission, we take the time to reflect on and celebrate the past 4 decades of Entrepreneurial Spirit, Advocacy, Partnership, and Professional Development that have created a strong foundation for our ambitious vision for a diverse, equitable, and inclusive future for our members, partners, community, and planet.
